Health Tip: Warding Off the Flu When You Have Asthma

(HealthDay News) -- People with asthma are at greater risk of flu-related complications. So what can they do?

The Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America advises:

Get the annual flu shot. Opt for the shot rather than the nasal spray.

Encourage everyone in the family to get the flu shot, to help protect the person with asthma.

Wash your hands frequently and stay away from people who are sick. Don't share food, drinks or utensils.

Call your doctor right away if you develop flu symptoms, such as fever, cough, chills, sore throat, headache or fatigue.
